Permalink Reply by Whitney Medved on December 14, 2010 at 11:21am We did the Groupon for an oil change and sold 521 of them. We are drawing in new customers, but it will take time to see if we can maintain them and the venture will be productive in the long run, or if we just gave away some radically discounted oil changes.

Are you thinking service department as well? And as far as working with Groupon it went pretty well. They got in touch with us right away, we set up the deal, and then there was a long waiting period (maybe a couple of months?) when we were "in the pipeline" while the marketing department waited to place us.

We've worked with Groupon in a couple different markets promoting Service Centers. Here's a blog I wrote about using Groupon to promote your service.

Permalink Reply by Charlie Hernandez on December 25, 2010 at 11:21am It's funny that this came up because at the Christmas dinner table my brother-in-law a consultant was talking about this new way of promoting services or products amongst local vendors to attract business. He couldn't explain to us how that works but what I did hear seem intriuging.
I can see how that would work to promote automotive services, parts and even offering a easy and inexpensive way to get to the local public about your new business.
