As dealer principal, it was at first getting everyone to buy in to the cuts in operations. After the first month showing a big difference everyone had more ideas and bought in even more. Now the problem seems to be a slight let down as the blood is out of the turnip totally and they need to refocus on expanding profit and setting goals that are attainable. I honestly think it will correct itself as I believe they feel tired and been under so much pressure they are just coasting and catching their breath. It has been a rough ride for everyone but they will get in line for the next ride. Truly, your people are your biggest asset.
Truly, your people are your biggest asset. That is 100% on the money. Times are tough(er) for everyone, and for us it's all about having positive attitudes. I am very fortunate to have a fantastic FOM running the show back there, but I find myself spending more time with my writers and techs just to keep the faith in this down economy, and time of uncertainty for our brand. We were able to get one of our "bad apples" to take a voluntary layoff (which we didn't really need to cut back) and the overall morale and attitude has increased quite a bit. For being a union shop, we actually have a nice group of guys that want to work and make money - and not rely on their guarantee!
It is refreshing to see someone that actually gets this. Spending time with your team sends a message that words alone never fully conveys. Your decision to remove the bad attitude was also dead on, one bad person ruins those arond them. Fear seems to be the largest motivator in an uncontrolled business, always a bad omen. thank you
