This may have been asked before but I can't find the answer anywhere. Is it possible to run a live simulcast video feed on an ipad just as on a desktop pc? I am traveling alot this year and would prefer to purchase an ipad vs laptop for simulcast auctions when I am not in the office.

Thanks

Not to my knowledge. They either require flash or Internet explorer with java enabled and some other software depending on the auction. I decided to get a MacBook Air and install VMware. Size of a iPad. Power of a laptop. Hope they make it accessible everywhere one day. I don't see it hppening anytime soon. Barely can use any browser you want except for a handful of auctions.

As a person who owns both and iPad and an Macbook, I will tell you to start with a Macbook. I run a software company as well as my dealership from my Macbook, I could not do that from my iPad.  Its not so much that you couldn't run the program you want on an iPad, its just not user friendly for extended time like preparing docs, presentations, or other projects that require a lot of input.  You could certainly watch a simulcast on an iPad but I would encourage you to make sure that is all you want to do.  iPads are great for searching the web, apps, music and movies.  They are not great for typical PC applications that require you to type or create projects.  FYI

Jay - you might check out this page of Manheim's website. It says the Manheim app allows for Simulcast proxy bidding, but I didn't see anything about running live feeds.  http://www.manheim.com/products/buying_selling_tools

Hi all and thanks for all of the responses. I guess I wasn't quite specific enough with my question. I am wanting either a laptop or ipad to run simulcast strictly while on vacation and when I am out of the office. Most of the time I am in front of my PC and it isn't an issue but if I decide to take a day or two off I would still like to have the ability to bid on a unit while on vacation. Please let me know if this helps.

I have a netbook and an Ipad I use.  Yeah the Ipad is easy and quick to use but I find it difficult to use for many business uses because it will not work with many websites and applications.  If you want something for surfing the web, email, games or music the Ipad is great but if you plan on doing much that is productive in a timely manner get a PC or MACBOOK.

I am actually the Director of Product Marketing & Training for AWG Remarketing, and we provide simulcast to over a hundred independent auctions around the country. So I am happy to say, yes, you can bid from your smart phone or iPad. In fact, we have a new app coming out, and the interface is amazing. If you would like to see a list of the auctions, just visit www.awgremarketing.com and check out our customer's page. Hope this helps :)

Hi Kelly, thanks but for the most part I purchase through the Manheim network but will def keep your company in mind.
